Geof Weisenborn

Leading True Atlanta’s young athletes as director of player development will be Geof Weisenborn. Weisenborn comes to True Atlanta after serving as the head varsity lacrosse coach at Wheaton Academy in Wheaton, IL for the last 13 years. Over the course of his tenure at Wheaton, Weisenborn led the program to an impressive 145-56 record, achieving a .720 winning percentage. In 2023, Weisenborn guided Wheaton Academy to its first state championship in program history. In 2022, he was honored as the IHSA Lacrosse Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, Wheaton Academy produced five All-Americans and 13 All-State players. Additionally, 21 players committed to compete at the Division I level, and more than 90 have continued their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level.  
 
Prior to his time at Wheaton Academy, Weisenborn served for eight years as head coach of the Messiah College Men’s Lacrosse program, beginning in 2006. During his time at Messiah, his teams advanced to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament six times and finished as runner-up four times. In 2007, he was named MAC Coach of the Year. He coached two All-American players, two Conference Players of the Year, and two Conference Rookies of the Year.  
 
Weisenborn began playing lacrosse in high school and earned a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a Division I program where he played under Hall of Fame Coach Don Zimmerman. From 1994 to 1998, he was a four-year starter for UMBC.  
 
Following his collegiate career, Weisenborn served as the head coach of the U.S. Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates (USLIA) club team at Michigan State University for two years. He later joined Messiah College as an Assistant Coach, overseeing the defense for three seasons before becoming the Head Coach of the Boys’ Lacrosse team at Francis Scott Key High School (Maryland). During his time there, he led the team to two Regional Finals appearances and was named the 2005 U.S. Lacrosse Regional Coach of the Year. Â
