Kevin McDonough

Coach McDonough enters his 6th year with True Pittsburgh.  During that time, he coached & mentored many athletes throughout the True program. From Fall of 2019 through Summer 2025 he was the High School Director.  He coached the True Pitt 2025 team and currently is working with multiple teams through the True Pitt programs.  Beginning in the fall of 2025 he became Co-Director with Mike McBride.  He works closely with all levels of True players, organizing practice plans, working on player development & assisting in the recruiting efforts of high school players.  Since joining True he has helped 50 players continue and play at the next level in NCAA Division I, II & III.  From the 2025 team he coached for four years, 5 players are currently playing DI, 6 players at DII & 9 players at the DIII level.   

Coach McDonough also offers ten years of collegiate coaching experience through his stops as the Head Coach at Chatham University (2020-2025), Assistant at OWU (2018-2020) & Assistant at Frostburg State University (2015-2018).  While Head Coach at Chatham, he led the Cougars to their 1st ever PAC tournament win, most win in program history (13 in 2025), finishing 2nd in the PAC in 2021 & 2025.  In 2025, Chatham advanced to the PAC Championship game for the 1st time in program history.  Chatham had its 1st two USILA Scholar All-Americans in 2024 & 2025, while also having three players win PAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the year awards (2021, 2024, 2025).  During his decade coaching college lacrosse, Coach McDonough coached 42 All-Conference players, 3 All-Americans and 2 major conference award winners.   

Before he got into collegiate coaching, Coach McDonough played collegiately at UMBC and is a 2015 alumni of the Retrievers.  While at UMBC, McDonough was a 2x captain and 3-year starter for their Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse team, playing under Coach Don Zimmerman.  He played his prep lacrosse ball at St. Anthony’s High School on Long Island.  He graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor of Arts in History & received his Master of Education degree from Frostburg State University.  

He currently resides in Pittsburgh with his wife Sarah, daughter Finley & has a second daughter on the way.
