Justin Shipp, Michigan director, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Coach Garland brings an extensive background in player development, recruitment, and instruction at the highest levels of our sport. He has over 20 years of experience working with young men and their families, and having him on board will significantly benefit our student-athletes. opening new avenues for our players to attend the most competitive events in the country, in addition to selective showcases.”

Coach Garland will work collaboratively with the Michigan staff across four key areas. First, he will assist in recruiting top-tier coaches and players to join our Michigan program. His recruiting efforts will also be utilized assisting Coach Lee with player college recruitment. Additionally, he will actively coach alongside the Michigan staff throughout the year. Lastly, he will be working with the Michigan staff on getting into some of the best tournaments and showcases as teams develop.

Coach Garland will play a vital role in providing access to some of the best tournaments in the country. Explaining this initiative, coach Garland said, “Our focus within the Michigan State program is on developing our players to the best of their abilities. As our teams continue to progress, we aim to elevate the caliber of tournaments they attend, enhancing competition and increasing college exposure.”
