True Lacrosse is expanding its programming in New York with the new True Albany program. Launching this summer, True Albany will host inaugural tryouts for players in the area who are interested in gaining access to True’s extensive network offering full-time administrative support, high level local teams, national training opportunities, professional coaching, and the most reputable recruiting guidance in club lacrosse.Â
Â
Leading the new True Albany program will be Amir Taylor. A Capital region native, Taylor is a lifelong athletes with deep roots in Albany. His journey began at Christian Brothers Academy, where he spent six years under the mentorship of Coach Vivian and Coach Scully as both a football and lacrosse player for five of those formative years. Taylor went on to complete a post-graduate year at Salisbury School in Connecticut under legendary Coach Bobby Wynne, where he continued to play both sports before focusing solely on lacrosse at Siena University and competing for Coach Liam Gleason.Â
Â
After his playing career, Taylor returned to his alma mater, CBA, as a coach. He spent four years as a defensive coordinator alongside Coach Scully. Taylor is currently the head coach at CBA, bringing both experience and a genuine investment in the young men he coaches.Â
Â
Off the field, Taylor is the director of development at Northwestern Mutual. He brings to True Lacrosse Albany not just a resume but a story, one written entirely in the Capital Region, and one he’s excited to continue building with this community.
Â
All players interested in joining the new True Albany program are invited to attend tryouts on July 6th and 13th. Players only need to attend one tryout, but they are encouraged to attend both.Â
Â
True Albany will also host a free clinic on June 6th for players to experience firsthand how True Lacrosse trains players prior to attending tryouts. See below for more information.Â
