True Lacrosse Announces Tropics Girls Program in Florida

True Lacrosse is pleased to announce its expansion of girls’ programming in Florida to the east coast with the founding of True Tropics Girls. This new program comes as the result of a successful merger with the Lady Ninjas Lacrosse program. Based in Western Palm Beach County, the program was founded in 2021 to provide young female athletes with an opportunity to develop and grow their lacrosse skills. Led by experienced local coaches, Lady Ninjas played a pivotal role in expanding girls youth lacrosse in the area.

In an effort to continue growing and reaching more young players along the southeast coast of Florida, the Lady Ninjas merger with True Lacrosse will offer even more training opportunities, access to a wider range of resources, and an established infrastructure to help grow and support this new program.

True Lacrosse is pleased to welcome Jason Heatherly as the new director of the True Tropics Girls program. Heatherly is the founder and director of Lady Ninjas Lacrosse. As leader of the newest True Lacrosse program, Heatherly will ensure a smooth and seamless transition for players and families. Originally from Upstate New York, Heatherly played as a defender for Geneva High School’s varsity lacrosse team, where he developed his passion for the sport. He now serves as the President of the Wellington Youth Lacrosse Association and is an assistant coach for Wellington High School, continuing to grow the game at both the youth and high school levels.

Also joining the program will be coaches Shannon Cloth, who is the assistant coach for Palm Beach Central High School girls’ lacrosse, and has been a valuable asset in the local lacrosse community; Brian Cook, assistant coach of the Spanish River High School lacrosse program and has generously shared his expertise and passion for the game to help young athletes improve their skills at the high school level; and Morgan Coppini, head coach for Palm Beach Central High School’s girls’ lacrosse team. A standout goalie during her playing career with a deep understanding of the game, Coppini has been a strong leader for Palm Beach Central’s program.

All players and families interested in learning more about the new True Tropics Girls program are invited to join us for an informational Zoom meeting on (date). At this time, coaches will discuss the program and what to expect, and parents and players will have the opportunity to ask questions.

True Tropics Girls will host its inaugural tryouts on March 9^th for players in graduation years 2026-2033. If you are interested in attending, please register.
