True Lacrosse PA Announces Merger with Roughriders - Expands program offerings for boys

PENNSYLVANIA — True Lacrosse is pleased to announce it has merged with the Roughriders program of West Chester, PA. This merger will augment the programming options for players in West Chester and the surrounding area who are interested in developing their game further and gaining access to True’s nationally recognized infrastructure, network, and support.  

Leading the True Roughriders will be Doug Corrigan. Lacrosse is a way of life in the Corrigan dynasty, and Doug grew up immersed in the sport. Born in New Haven, Connecticut while his father was the coach at Yale, Corrigan was surrounded by lacrosse from an early age. Three All-American uncles – including Gene Corrigan, former head coach at Washington & Lee and Virginia, and George, who completed his 7-decade coaching career at 84 at Radnor High – helped introduce him to the sport.  

A former defenseman and captain at UVA, Doug went on to coach around Philadelphia, including stops at Villanova, Widener, Archmere, MAB Lacrosse Club and West Chester Youth. Prior to the creation of the MLL pro league, the USCLA was the top league, and Corrigan played for the Philadelphia USCLA team (MAB) for 10 years and then, as a coach, won the USCLA Championship. Corrigan has served twice (2014 and 2015) as an assistant coach for the Under Armour All American teams, most recently winning the underclass championship with the Philadelphia team. In addition, Corrigan served on the board of the US Lacrosse Foundation for three years and was a sideline coach at the 2004 US team tryouts.

Corrigan continued, “PA Roughriders have had a strong tradition of providing opportunities for players to reach the next level at top programs, including Notre Dame, Maryland, Penn State, Penn, Drexel, and Villanova, among others. This year, Roughrider players appeared in the final four at every level of the NCAA.”
